The Riverside Astronomical Society
Astro-Imaging Group presents

Riverside Astroimaging Workshop 2008
Featuring Tony Hallas & Don Goldman

Friday, September 12, 2008
Pasadena Convention Center

NOTE: Online Registration has closed at this time. If room is available, we may allow walk-up registration on Friday at 8:00 am. For more information send a message to information@rivastro.org.

This one day workshop will bring together beginners, intermediate, and advanced imagers to work on the latest in image acquisition and processing. Tony Hallas, an award winning leader in astroimaging for the past two decades, will share his techniques for intermediate and advanced imaging. Don Goldman of Astrodon Imaging, will introduce us to "Why Narrow-Band Imaging?" An introductory session will focus on getting started.

The morning starts in the same Conference Center as PATS at 8:00 for registration and refreshments. At 9:00 Ralph Megna will demonstrate basic image processing using Photoshop for those who are not yet fully familiar with it. At 10:00 Tony will start his first session on image acquisition and squeezing the most out of the data through iterative processing. We will break for lunch (on your own--there are lots of restaurants nearby) and return for Don Goldman's presentation on Narrow Band Imaging. At 2:15 Tony will start his second session demonstrating his advanced techniques.

Although it is not required, you will get more out of this workshop if you can follow along with your computer, especially for Tony's afternoon presentation. We will have electrical outlets for you, and encourage you to bring your laptop loaded with Photoshop. If you do not yet have the program, you can download a free trial of it from http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/index.html

This will be happening the day before the new Pacific Astronomy and Telescope Show (PATS) at the Pasadena Center. So you can make a weekend out of it!

If you have already registered, and ordered tickets to PATS, they will be hand delivered on the day of the workshop.!

Tony Hallas produced this photo of M82 using techniques he
will share at the Riverside AstroImaging Workshop just before
PATS on September 12.
