President's Message

January 2012

Now is the time to take down all of the Christmas decorations and remove the lights from around the house (hopefully you don’t leave them up all year) and we all start the preparations to celebrate the start of the new year. We get out the special goofy looking hats, pour a glass of bubbly and all patiently wait for the stroke of midnight. We all raise our glass of champagne, blow our silly little horns, scream, "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" and kiss the one you love. 2012 should be another wonderful year for the club (if we all survive the predicted end of the world).

This month I will have completed my second year as the President of the RAS and I am proud to say that the club is doing great. The first two years have been challenging but, with the help of my beautiful wife and friends, we didn't miss a beat. I am so happy to see this club continue to prosper in this poor economy. The club’s membership has continued to grow and we are seeing a lot of new friendly faces at our events. I am happy to see that more people are volunteering for club activities and work parties. I hope that this year will be the one for everyone to remember and we all hope that everyone will prosper in the coming new year.

Last year we saw a lot of amazing changes take place at our site in Landers. We gained more pads, new doors and soon we will have two new bathrooms in the newly renamed Knapke club house. We have needed these renovations for a long time and I am happy to see them near completion. We have received many generous donations and members who have helped get these projects done. Gary Nelson has spent many long days getting the work done so the next you see him please tell him thanks. As we continue to improve our facilities, we need to remember that both properties still need more repairs and a lot more support from the membership to get these projects finished.

This month we will have our first board meeting of the new year and with that we have are welcoming back 4 past board members and 3 new board members. These individuals have volunteered for this and will be helping to shape the future of this club. This year we hope that the board will bring a positive attitude and will see things get done.

If you would like to see where you can help, please attend the Board meeting at Coco’s this Saturday at 3:00 pm. I hope see a lot of you come out and become more a part of YOUR club. I look forward to serving as your club President in the up coming year.

As always, clear and steady Skies!
